Hematology/Coagulation/Urinalysis

The UMMC clinical hematology section of the laboratory is staffed by 12 medical technologists and medical laboratory scientists 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and uses the most advanced automated instrumentation to ensure accuracy and precision. The hematology department performs approximately 195,000 tests per year. These include complete blood counts (CBC) and differentials, body fluid counts and differentials, sickle cell screens, reticulocyte analysis, erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), and hemoglobin electrophoresis.
